Hi Sugadh, 7200rpm HDD performance will only be noticeable if you do heavy indexing, large file editing/moving (such as movies), and during startup times. There won’t be much noticeable difference between “5400rpm HDD or 7200rpm HDD” performance while playing games, playing movies…

Laptop Motherboard burns because of the Over-heating /Improper cooling. These problems mostly comes in those laptops which have cooling fans at the back plate of the laptops. The hot air coming from the back plate unable to come out properly, so laptops over-heating & motherboard/ graphic card burns.

shortlisted sony vaio z series. earlier i was thinking of macbook pro 15″ core i7 but then dropped the idea as its size is bothering me. vaio z are light weight and as they claim very good in their performance. i am still a lil hesitant as they vaios are known for bad heat disposal.

Intel’s GMA is sufficient for usage like watching movies, download/edit high resln movies pics.
Power consumption depend on the load. Graphics card doesn’t consume power all the time.

As per my info, NVIDIA GeForce 315M performance will be same or better than ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450.

Hi shiv, laptop is not for very high-end gaming. Desktop is the proper thing to play high-end games. You wont get good experience & performance while playing games on laptop.
Laptop cant replace desktop specially for gaming purpose.

hp pavilion dm4 1041tx is a good choice. Stylish design and thin, good built quailty, fast Core i5 performance, strong battery life, lightweight, but the touchpad is not so good.

Laptop Motherboard burns because of the Over-heating /Improper cooling. These problems mostly comes in those laptops which have cooling fans at the back plate of the laptops. The hot air coming from the back plate unable to come out properly, so laptops over-heating & motherboard/ graphic card burns.

shortlisted sony vaio z series. earlier i was thinking of macbook pro 15″ core i7 but then dropped the idea as its size is bothering me. vaio z are light weight and as they claim very good in their performance. i am still a lil hesitant as they vaios are known for bad heat disposal.

For Acer laptop contact your nearest dealer, or you can search online stores. For Dell laptop you can order online to Dell.

Don’t leave the laptop in the car or under direct sun
Turn off Wi-Fi and BlueTooth while not in use
Fully charge your new battery packs before use.
Discharge your whole battery atleast twice or thrice a month.
If you are not using your laptop for a long time, then remove the battery
Regularly clean your battery & its terminal

The drawback with the Sony vaio is the Overheating, motherboard burn, lines on display.

i need it for my personal use and will run small industrial applications and CAD.
I want the most durable and long battery life.
I wont suggest Sony Vaio, coz Vaio got many complains of overheat, motherboard burn, line on Display.
Out of these 3, i would suggest HP dv6-3049TX, or you can go for Lenovo also, its also a good option. Lenovo is best for long durability , its got good quilt quality, good speakers, & interesting features.
Dont expect a good battery backup with Intel Core i5 Processor

Lenovo is better, is got good built quality, durable, good speakers, excellent keyboard. Graphics card performance is not so good.
HP G62, TouchPad is not so good, e-sata post is missing, average sound quality, better graphics card.

Hi shiv, laptop is not for very high-end gaming. Desktop is the proper thing to play high-end games. You wont get good experience & performance while playing games on laptop.
Laptop cant replace desktop specially for gaming purpose.

hp pavilion dm4 1041tx is a good choice. Stylish design and thin, good built quailty, fast Core i5 performance, strong battery life, lightweight, but the touchpad is not so good.

Acer Aspire Timelinex 4820tg is Good for gaming & multimedia use, its also got good battery life, Its powerful & gives good performance.
on the otherhand it lacks Firewire, eSATA & ExpressCard, poor viewing angle, modest sound, bad contrast ratio.
There are other better options like HP, Lenovo, Dell

I used to run monte carlo simulation codes in laptop. It may take more than 24 hrs most of the time. As far as my code is concerned there is no need for GPU. Hence GPU based laptops are the advanced I want GPU in my laptop as an additional feature. So I need to ask you the folowing questions: (i) Whether GPU can be disabled during the time it is not in need, if so please suggest which model is having this facility ? (ii) If no please suggest me a reliable laptop good for programming using Matlab etc. My budget is around Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 45,000.

Dedicated graphics card is required if you play high-end graphics games, or runs high-end applications. For everyday normal use you dont require dedicated graphics card.
Its on you if u like to watch movies on laptop or TV.

& if you want a better speakers, looks, impressive features, then lenovo Y560 is good choice.
